Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop phenomena: a superstar who managed to seamlessly transition from country to the mainstream and become a enduring celebrity and then conquering the globe in the process. Swift has thrown off her country roots as if they were second skins revealing herself to be the smartest pop singer/songwriter of her time. She has the ability to harness the current zeitgeist and make it her personal. The skills she displayed were apparent in some of her earliest tracks, notably the Neodue Tim McGraw. But on the second album Fearless which came out in 2008, Swift could identify the person she was and reach a wide audience. Fearless was a big hit not only in the US where the Top Ten singles Love Story and Belong with Me helped it to break six platinum records as well as around the globe. It was a huge success across Canada, Australia and the U.K. Swift's new album, Speak Now, released just two years after the debut, further consolidated the success of this album. The album propelled Swift into the spotlight. Swift's popularity grew over the course of her three subsequent albums - Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift had now established herself in an industry she felt was hers to be. Although she slowed down the production of her folklore album, and Evermore albums in the year 2020, she was still in the forefront of pop music.
